Planning Your Field Trip

Thank you for your interest in bringing your students to the Waldensian Trail of Faith in Valdese, NC. All on-site visits offer curriculum based lesson plans, a powerpoint presentation, and activities for the students. These resources include pre-visit plans as well as on-site activities. The lesson plan topics cover History, Geography, Community Culture, and Writing. While on the trip the students will visit full scale recreations of historic sites (including a 60 foot cave) and monuments replicated from a 20-square-mile region of the Cottian Alpine mountains of Northwestern Italy. They will also experience a working saw mill (130+ years old) used for generating income and to saw wood for the construction of their American homes. In addition, they will visit an original home built (in 1893) after the Waldensians arrived in Burke County from Europe. These are just a few of the buildings and monuments the students will visit and of course the students will be lead throughout the Trail by certified tour guides.

For groups of 10-30 participants please allow 1 hour and 45 minutes at the Trail

The Trail has indoor and outdoor options for a place the students can have their lunch at no additional costs.
